Common questions

What is transportation?

Transportation services help people get to work, day programs, medical appointments, and errands. Some are public, like paratransit. Others are private companies that may accept waiver funding.

Who pays for transportation?

Public paratransit has its own eligibility and fares. Non medical rides may be covered by a waiver. Medical rides may be covered by Medicaid.

Can my Service Coordinator recommend a provider?

No. Under Ohio's Free Choice of Provider rule, county staff cannot promote one provider over another. They can point you to the Ohio DODD provider search and help set up interviews with the providers you choose.
